About Us

Zimmedar Shehri – Responsible Citizens is an organization that was brought into existence by Pakistani students and young professionals for the purpose of community service and awareness. By tackling environmental and social issues, we the Responsible Citizens desired to bring about change in the environment and to the lives of the people living in communities of different areas of Pakistan.

Zimmedar Shehri started out with the ‘Take out the Trash’ initiative that now attracts hundreds of volunteers across Pakistan. The aim of this project was to create a sense of national responsibility and ownership within the people of Pakistan. This expanded into the ‘Lahore eXchange’ a drive to clothe the poor of Lahore. Zimmedar Shehri has also in partnership with the Anti-Narcotics Force of Pakistan initiated an annual Drug demand reduction internship. Their latest campaign is the ‘Flood Relief Mission’ focusing on the flood hit areas that devastated Pakistan. The areas include Swat Valley, Khwazakhel, Multan, Muzaffargar, Rajanpur and Sindh with the association of Pakistan Army and Air force.

As a movement to empower the people of Pakistan to overcome the adversities of urbanized life and take action where action is needed, Zimmedar Shehri  aims to create a sense of national responsibility and ownership within the people of Pakistan. The organization’s membership and activities are open to anyone who is motivated to improve their community, and, with its presence spreading rapidly from city to city, the number of its volunteers has grown with leaps and bounds to meet the demands of a growing national community with tremendous potential.

Zimmedar Shehri enjoys an international reputation, having been lauded by the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in her address at the GC University, Lahore and also having been featured in The New York Times and other prestigious publications.
